Autoimmune Hepatitis Panel Test Cost and Procedure

A series of tests called an autoimmune liver disease panel are run to look for the condition. An autoimmune liver disease occurs when the immune system attacks its own cells of the liver.

These tests consist of

• Antinuclear antibodies (ANA)
• Perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (p-ANCA)
• Anti-smooth muscle antibodies (anti-SMA)
• Anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA)
• Anti-soluble liver antigen / liver pancreas antibodies (anti-SLA/LP)
• Anti-Liver-Kidney microsome 1 antibodies (anti-LKM1)
•  Anti-Liver-Kidney microsome 3 antibodies (anti-LKM3)
•  Anti-Liver Cytosol 1 Antibodies (anti-LC1)

Other tests can be on the panel as well.

Immune protein levels in the blood are frequently examined as well.

Diagnostic criteria for the two different kinds of autoimmune hepatitis include typical autoantibody patterns.

Other autoimmune liver diseases include primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), which may be indicated by specific autoantibody patterns.Moreover, so-called overlap syndromes, which involve the coexistence of two autoimmune diseases, such as Systemic sclerosis, or just one autoimmune illness, can also arise (SSc). There are also two variants of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), known as type 1 and type 2. Many autoimmune liver disorders are linked to these various autoantibodies.

A vein is used to draw blood for analysis.

Reference values

• Antibodies for smooth muscles
• Negative
• Results are titered if positive.
• Reference values are applicable to all ages.

Mutochlorratic Antibodies (m2)

• Less than 0.1 Units- negative
• 0.1-0.3 units - borderline
•  0.4 to 0.9 Units - weakly positive
• Positive values include those that are greater than or equal to 1.0 units.

All ages can use reference values.

Antinuclear Anatomies (ANA2)

• Positive: or =1.0 Units
• Positively weak: 1.1-2.9 Units
• Favourable: 3.0-5.9 Units
• Very favourable: > or = 6.0 Units

All ages can use reference values.

Analysing Information

Smooth muscle antibodies (SMAs) and/or antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) are frequently present.
