What Is Color Doppler?

Color Doppler is an ultrasonic imaging technique that produces images of blood flow in different colors.

How To Prepare for Color Doppler Ultrasound?

• Wear loose fitting clothes.
• Remove your jewellery prior to the test.
•  For DVT (Deep vein thrombosis) you don’t need to prepare anything else. But for belly ultrasound, your doctor may tell you to not to eat or drink anything during that time.
• You can drink a small amount of water to take your regular medicines.
• Pregnant women who want Doppler ultrasound need to drink 2 liter of water 1 hour before the exam.

Procedure of Color Doppler Test

Step wise procedures for ultrasound are-

• Patient will be asked to lie on table before the scan and expose the area of interest.
• A gel is applied on your skin and a transducer device wills move over your skin that capture the images.
• The waves produced by the transducer helps in getting the images on monitor.
• Duration of test will be 30-60 minutes.

When Will I Get the Test Results?

Your healthcare provider or a radiologist, a medical doctor who specializes in medical imaging, will review the test results. Depending on the results, you may need more tests. The health condition will determine what additional tests you get.
