How long does Valium stay in the system?

Valium Half- Life

It has been seen that Valium usually has a long elimination life (Half Life) - i.e. the amount of time, it would usually take for a substance to exit the system.

There are a number of factors that valium half depends on. This period in general, lasts from 30 to 56 hours.

Scientifically: It is seen as a major metabolite of clorazepate and prazepam. The minor active metabolites of the drug diazepam are temazepam (3-hydroxydiazepam) and also oxazepam i.e. (3-hydroxy-N-diazepam).

 It is important to understand that the use of diazepam may also exhibit synergism with other drugs such as - barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, along with  amine oxidase inhibitors.

What are the Limitations of the test

Before the Test

No preparation is needed before the test is taken.

During the Test

1. The patient would be given detailed instructions from the lab technician who will be carrying out the test.
