Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Quantitative PCR Test Cost & Procedure

To determine the amount of EBV DNA in the blood, a blood sample is subjected to an Epstein Barr Virus DNA test. Procedure

• After the blood is drawn, there may be a small amount of pain.

Limitations of the PCR and EBV DNA Test

Lack of staining does not always indicate the presence of the target since there may be target DNA present below the sensitivity limits of the test or due to inappropriate collecting, handling, and fixative of the specimen.
