Fasciolopsiasis

Fasciolopsiasis, also known as intestinal fluke infection, is a parasitic disease caused by the trematode flatworm Fasciolopsis buski. This parasite primarily infects the small intestine of humans and other mammals, and can cause a range of symptoms and complications.

The symptoms of fasciolopsiasis can vary depending on the severity of the infection. Mild infections may not cause any symptoms, while moderate to severe infections can result in symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and general malaise. In some cases, the flukes can also migrate to other organs, such as the liver, causing additional symptoms and complications.
