Ordering Instructions

• Targeted fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) probes for the myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) are used in this test to assess any specific abnormalities or abnormalities found in the diagnostic sample. In order to ascertain the intended analysis, test processing may be delayed if the FISH probes to be tested are not indicated on the request. The examination may be rescinded and automatically reordered by the lab as MDSDF / MDS, Diagnostic FISH, Varies if relevant investigations are not included with this examination decree.
• Decree MDSDF / Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), Diagnostic FISH, Varies whether the full MDS FISH panel is solicited.
• Traditional cytogenetic tests ought to be run at the time of diagnosis. See CHRBM / Chromosome Examination, Hematologic Disorders, Bone Marrow for additional attributes.

Important Information

• A list of the probes that have been asked for analysis is needed. The Testing Algorithm section contains a list of the probes that are accessible for this test.
• Each specimen must be accompanied by a justification for the test. If this news is not replenished, the lab will not deny the examination, but valid testing and arrangement may be hindered or postponed. Mayo Clinic Laboratories may insert a suitable indication for testing if this information is not provided.
• To enhance testing and assist in the interpretation of results, the laboratory may ask for a pathology and/or flow cytometry report.

2. To mix the bone marrow, invert several times.

Useful for

Testing Method

The cost of this test comprises the deployment of 1 probe set, analysis of the data, and professional interpretation of those results (2 individual fluorescence in situ hybridization probes). All extra probe sets will be performed at an additional cost.
