HLA - Panel Reactive IgG Antibodies (PRA) Class 1 Quantitative Test Cost & Procedure

This test aids in the detection of Sensitization. When PRA is high, there is a delay in graft function. There are high chances of rejection.

What are Panel Reactive Antibodies?

A panel-reactive antibody is a cluster of antibodies that seems reactive against the antigen.

What is this test?

This test is done in people undergoing transplantation. In this test, the people who undergo transplantation are disclosed to cells and tested for non-acceptance. A percentage is used to express the result of PRA. If the score is more than 6, it is fatal, and if above 20, desensitisation is to be done.

The antibodies attack the antigens of donor cells.

HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen):

The immune system is used to locate whether the cell belongs to you. It is a type of genetic typing; it is also called HLA Matching. This test can detect whether the patient can safely donate Bone marrow or organs. 

What is MHC?

HLA is a tumour antigen to T cells for the immune system. Antigens bind to proteins for the release of antibodies for the immune system. It assists the body in the quarrel against infection.

HLA Antibodies:

HLA antibodies are made during pregnancy in women when they receive blood from a donor. HLA antibodies do not have any risk. The donated plasma is fatal.

Sensitisation:

When your body becomes sensitive to allergy, it is called sensitisation. Some substances seem to be senssensitisedan allergen.

The substances in the immune system that trigger it are called allergens.
