IHC - Cluster of Differentiation 3 (CD3) Test Cost & Procedure

To measure the levels of each molecule in the blood, tests for CD3, CD4, and CD8 are performed on a blood sample. The test is used to confirm the diagnosis of T cell lymphoma before, during, and after treatment. Lymphoma is brought on by lymphocytes, a specific type of WBC. Lymphocytes include T cells and B cells. The mature T cell (CD3) population contains both helper (CD4) and suppressor (CD3) T cells (CD8). As a result, the CD4 and CD8 cell totals in the lymphocyte test should be equivalent to the CD3 number.

Preparation for the CD3 Absolute Count Test

There is no extra information needed to take the test. You must tell the doctor about every medication you take so they can advise against taking it until after the trial if any drugs could affect the outcome.

CD3 Absolute Count Test Applications

An average CD4 count typically indicates that HIV infection has not yet impacted the person's immune system. A low CD4 count suggests that HIV has compromised the person's immune system and that the disease is advancing. CD3 Absolute Count Test Procedure

• A band is placed around the arm, ideally just below the elbow pit, so that the vein can be seen easily.
• Cleaning is done with 70% alcohol. The needle causes a tiny prick as it is put into the visible vein to collect the necessary blood.
• The nozzle transfers the collected blood into the blood container, and the syringe is promptly disposed of hygienically.
