Analysis vs. Observation

Two crucial methods for acquiring data in any experiment where conclusions are drawn and hypotheses are verified for accuracy are observation and interpretation. It is clear that the two acts are distinct from one another, and there are important distinctions between observation and interpretation. Observation

The term "observation" refers to the act of merely observing and recording values in a scientific experiment. Even in the humanities, observation is defined as the act of just observing something, writing it down, and reporting it exactly as it is without adding any interpretation or value.

The why of a subject or object is unrelated to observation; all that matters is what and how much is being observed. Students are being pushed to generate information just using their sense of sight without using their brains if they are asked to see a picture or a video and then describe what they observed.

Therefore, in any experiment, recording data based on values obtained from recording devices or accurately documenting activities based on one's sense of sight is referred to as observation.

Interpretation

Whether a conclusion is drawn through a scientific or social science-based investigation, there are alternative ways to generate or collect information that is helpful. It is necessary to observe in order to interpret, but interpretation also entails making sense of what is observed. Not only is interpretation the addition of one's thoughts, observations, or conclusions to what has been observed. There are some observations that stand on their own and do not need the experimenter to provide any supporting data or an explanation. When one must use his intellect to make meaning of what he sees, that is when he is thought to be making an interpretation.

Analysis vs. Observation

• Observation is the use of senses and the reporting of information based on these senses. However, interpretation is the process of using brainpower to interpret this data.

• Observing something is different from making an interpretation since observation is what you observe without adding your opinion.

• Anthropologists are taught to use observation and interpretation together when coming to conclusions.
