What is NCCT LS Spine?

NCCT LS Spine is a Non-contrast computed tomography scan for the lumbosacral spine. It is used to produce images of the lumbar portion of the spine. The lumbar portion is the lowest portion of the spine, made up of five vertebral bones. This scan is used to diagnose/detect the problems and causes of problems such as a herniated disc, infection, low back pain, spine-based birth defects, weakness in legs etc.

The bench slides inside the scanner and takes images of the scanning area by using motorised X-rays. The images are used to diagnose the abnormal conditions in the area.

In Which case NCCT LS Spine is not Performed? 

If the patient is pregnant or suspects any pregnancy, the NCCT procedure is avoided because of X-rays. These rays are harmful to the unborn babies.
