Paraneoplastic neurological syndrome (PNS) is a rare group of disorders that occur in association with malignancies, typically cancers, and involve the immune system attacking the nervous system. In PNS, the immune response is triggered by the presence of a tumor elsewhere in the body, and the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy nerve cells or tissues, leading to a range of neurological symptoms.

PNS can manifest in various ways, depending on the specific type of autoantibodies involved and the areas of the nervous system that are affected. Common neurological manifestations of PNS may include difficulty with coordination or balance (ataxia), muscle weakness or wasting, sensory changes (such as numbness, tingling, or loss of sensation), visual disturbances, language difficulties, memory problems, mood changes, and seizures.
