Hematology Tests

The area of science known as hematology deals with the study of blood, blood-forming organs, and blood disorders. Laboratory evaluations of blood diseases and blood products are part of hematology tests. A hematologic examination is a microscopic study of the blood cells or tissues that produce blood (particularly bone marrow), looking for alterations in the shape and/or quantity of different types of blood cells, including immature cells. Hematology tests help in diagnosing anemia, infection, hemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, and leukemia.
