What is an Ultrasound TVS Scan? 

Transvaginal sonography also known as TVS scan or USG TVS or Endovaginal ultrasound is a type of ultrasound imaging that is used for the examination of female pelvic organs or reproductive system including the uterus, cervix, ovary and fallopian tubes. In TVS scan, the transducer or probe is kept inside the patient's vagina.

• Before the scan begins patient needs to remove the Tampon or ornaments. patient will then be asked to lie on the examination table. 
• The patient's Sonographer/Obstetrician will then apply gel/lubricant over a condom which is placed over the transducer for the smooth insertion of the probe into the Patients vagina.
• Then the transducer will be inserted inside the patient's vagina which sends high frequency sound waves to the pelvic organs. These sound waves are reflected back and are recorded by the ultrasound machine and converted into images. These images will be interpreted to evaluate the patient's condition.

Aftercare

TVS scan uses high-frequency sound waves and a computer to delineate the details of pelvic organs. In addition, this technique does not expose patients to radiation, unlike typical X-rays. No aftercare is required.
