Opportunistic Enteric Parasite Screen, Stool Test Cost & Procedure

This test is used to diagnose Enteric Parasites. The following are enteric parasites:

• Cryptosporidium spp.
• Isospora spp.
• Microsporidia Stercoralis
•  spp
• Strongyloides stercoralis

These parasites cause Diarrhea in immunocompromised patients. This is a screening test that is done by using a microscope.

This test is done on an electron microscope. An electron microscope is one of the latest microscopes developments with high-resolution results.

Diarrhea:

This condition is marked by frequent bowel movements having loose and watery stools. Patients suffering from diarrhea have excessive stomach pain and vomiting.

Symptoms are seen in diarrhea:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Fever
• Bloody Stools
• Stools with mucus
• Frequent movements of the bowel

Opportunistic Enteric Parasitic Infections:

This condition is seen in HUB patients, and CD-4+ cells are responsible for this. The lower the number of CD-4 cells, the more fatal the disease and symptoms are.

HIV (Human immunodeficiency Disease):

This is of two types: HIV-1 and HIV-2. It is a constituent of the Lentivirus family of Retroviridae and causes AIDS(Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).

Various Tests for the Detection of HIV:

There are three tests done to detect HIV:

• Antibody Tests
• Nucleic Acid Tests
• Antigen/Antibody Tests

How is HIV Tested?

The first test that is performed is Antigen/Antibody Test. If this test is positive, then lab tests are recommended. HIV tests are usually precise and are confirmed soon. This disease is marked by the lowering of CD4+ cells (<200 cells). Patients with AIDS are immunologically weak and can catch any infection. The lifespan of the person decreases if he has AIDS. It is transferred through sexual contact and even by the other to the fetus.

The procedure of this test :

• Three samples of feces are required on separate days.
• Formol ether is one solution that is put in the sample.
• The slide is made with the samples. Thfallde will be stained by Kinyoun Acid fast method and rapid field stain.
